Do I need a Learner’s Permit/overseas license before my first lesson?

Yes. To legally take a driving lesson on Victorian roads, you must hold a current Victorian Learner’s Permit/ have overseas license. Please ensure you have it with you, as it is a legal requirement to carry your permit whenever you are behind the wheel.

How do I book a lesson with VicRoute?

You can book your lesson directly through our website/booking portal [here]. If you prefer, you can also contact us via phone or email, and we will assist you in finding a time that works for your schedule. We recommend booking in advance, especially during peak periods.

What should I bring to my driving lesson?

Please bring the following to every lesson:

  • Your valid Victorian Learner’s Permit/ Overseas license
  • Your logbook (if you are under 21) or your myLearners app. Download here: myLearners
  • Any glasses or contact lenses you require for driving.
  • Comfortable clothing and secure, closed-toe footwear.

How many driving lessons will I need?

Everyone learns at their own pace. While there is no set “minimum” number of professional lessons required in Victoria, we recommend a mix of professional lessons and supervised driving practice to reach the 120-hour requirement (for under 21s). Our instructors will assess your skills in the first lesson and provide a personalized plan to help you reach your goals efficiently.

Are your cars equipped for safety?

Absolutely. At Vic Route Driving School, we prioritize your safety. Our vehicles are late-model,(Kia Rio 2023 Model with new technology features) well-maintained, and fitted with dual controls. This allows our instructors to intervene safely if needed, ensuring you can learn with confidence.

Do you help with VicRoads test preparation?

Yes, test preparation is a core part of what we do. We help you master the specific manoeuvres, road rules, and hazard perception skills required to pass your practical driving test. We can also assist you in understanding the test route areas.

Do I need to pass the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) before my driving test?

Yes. In Victoria, you must pass the Hazard Perception Test before you can book your practical driving test. You can practice this online via the VicRoads website here.

What is your cancellation policy?

To respect our instructors’ time and the availability of other students, we require at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a fee. Lessons missed without prior notice will be deducted from your remaining balance.

Can I have a parent or guardian sit in on my lesson?

Yes, we are happy to accommodate this! Having a supervising driver observe a lesson can be a great way to align your learning at home with the professional techniques taught in our cars. Please let us know in advance if you would like someone to join.
